Today was about 450 miles of freeway
(Interstate 40 East) that just seemed to go on
& on & on. I have never seen so much flat
space. Even the coyotes on the edge of
the freeway were flat!

It became hard to ignore how many heavy
trucks are on the road. They all have a
sleeping unit behind the cab. Some even
have cooking and bathroom facilities in
them. The weirdest ones I have seen so
far are the trucks that carry other trucks
as their load. They look like they’re being
piggybacked. I even saw one today that
was carrying a tank!

I think the US Army must have had a garage sale

We're staying the night in the town of Amarillo.
It’s flat, hot
(still 90 degrees at 11pm) and at the
moment incredibly windy & dusty. I’ll see
what tomorrow brings.

America is so huge it is divided into 4 different
time zones. Since we are travelling East we
have so far gone from Pacific time to
Mountain time and now we’re in Texas,
to Central time.

When we get to New York, which is Eastern
time we’ll have lost 4 hours along the way.
(I told you the road kill was interesting, we're even killing time!)
I have enough trouble with daylight saving at
home. An hour a year is bad enough. 4 in a
month is way too confusing to me!!
