the Rockwood Trailer factory
I was wrong. The trailer factory
was amazing.
Indiana is known as the RV (Recreational
Vehicle) capital with about 80% being built here. The majority of workers
were Amish and employed because they have great work ethics. The factory was working on a production bonus and boy,
were they working fast!
28 trailers are built a day and surprisingly, every one built is pre-sold.
The
chassis starts at the beginning of a huge conveyer belt and is moved along for each workstation to complete its part
of the build. At the end the completed trailer is lined up to await shipping. It’s amazing to look at our trailer
and know that it only took about an hour and a half to build!
Chassis waiting for their turn on the conveyerbelt
The chassis is tipped on it's side while all the 'underneath stuff' is installed.
The inside is laid out and positioned.
The walls go up ....
.... and the roof goes on.
The insides are kitted out and everything is tested and quality checked.
