Critters!
Woke to the sound of the ‘morning chorus’. I didn’t
know a single bird call that I could hear.
Looking out the window I could see ‘critters’ fossicking
around in the grass. Squirrels, chipmunks and a family of groundhogs all promptly disappeared when I went out with the
camera. I did manage to get a photo of the groundhogs’ front door though!

Groundhog burrow in the undergrowth behind our campsite. |
This was the first time I have seen groundhogs during our travels but I
have gotten used to seeing squirrels and chipmunks dashing for safety when I get too close. Squirrels usually run
straight up the nearest tree and don't reappear until you are gone, whereas chipmunks are the funniest little things
and seem to be really nosey. They will head up a tree but if you stand still, after a few moments a tiny head will
pop around the tree trunk to check out where you're at and what you're doing.
I
didn't take these next 3 photos. I 'borrowed' them ....
My wildlife photography really leaves a lot to the imagination ....
see ....
.... you have to imagine that the squirrel is still there!
