The word Grand doesn’t even come close.
It is mind blowingly huge!

Even though I have seen plenty of pictures of
the canyon I wasn’t prepared for the real thing.
The photos I took don't even begin to show how
beautiful the place is. I now know why it is called
one of the world's great wonders. It really has to
be seen to be believed.

I had an extra bonus when taking photos.
I looked down and there was a rock squirrel
sitting right in front of me.
Excellent piccy!

very photogenic rock squirrel sitting on a rock of course.
He scarpered when we were spotted by a group of
Japanese tourists. I think 20 cameras were a bit
too much for him to handle!

I missed out on photographing a huge deer.
He was very uncooperative and hid behind
some trees as we passed.

Photographing the bear proofed rubbish bins
was a lot easier; actually getting them open
was a totally different matter!

If you want to be safe from bears you have to look like this!

this flat rock glitters in the sun as it is covered with coins
that people have thrown off the lookout point!

None of these photos do justice to the amazing
colours or vastness that make the Canyon
so special.
