Los Angeles

Today we travelled approx 60 miles in the
rental car in order to pick up the truck which
has been in storage for the past 6 months.

I've begun to realize that LA is really a whole
bunch of small cities all linked together by
those terrifying freeways. 5 or 6 lanes of
vehicles all travelling about 70 miles an
hour ....... totally impossible to navigate if you
have a fear of speed, can't read a map or
have failing long range eyesight which meant
you totally missed the sign that said your exit
was coming up!

Don't try and change lanes at too much of a
swerve or one of those 85 foot (gigantic)
trucks
will run right over the top of you!

Would you believe my crazy mother asked me
if I would like to drive on the trip back? You can
probably guess my response to that!

Yikees, double decker roads and plenty of them!

I have been introduced to the amazing pass time
of shopping at a store called Wal-Mart. The
prices are incredible, I can’t believe how cheap
stuff is. The Wal-Mart shopping experience is
like the Warehouse, New World and Mitre 10 all
rolled into one. You can buy your groceries, a
pair of new shoes, that new set of outdoor
furniture you’ve always wanted and even a tank
full of tropical fish to top it off with. The place is
huge! What amazed me the most was the special
area of checkouts completely designated for
returns. I guess they were check ins really ……
there was no problem returning anything, no
questions asked and your money is handed
back.

Tomorrow we’re off to San Diego zoo so my
next lot of news will be all oohs and aahs about
what I’ve seen there.
(hopefully lots of parrots!)

Did you know that there is a very loud fireworks
display held at Disneyland at night? It’s sounding
like a war out there at the moment so I’m off to
TRY and get some sleep.
